After spending 4 days in Sydney, it was time to travel to Melbourne! Two of us took Qantas Airway while our other travel buddy has booked a separate flight (booked at different time) so we split up at the airport and reunited later in Melbourne.

Having reached the airport early, we had some time for breakfast... Tada, Hungry Jacks! Apparently, this is a franchise of Burger Kings. I am not a big fan, but it is alright for a quick meal before our plane ride.

It was a short flight that lasted only 95 minutes and we touched down in Melbourne. Before our trip, we had bought Skybus tickets - Melbourne City Express (round trip) for AU$35. You get to save AU$3 by purchasing them online and it saves you some time from having to buy the tickets at the airport too!

The skybus took us into the happening part of Melbourne and we bought Myki cards (Melbourne subway card) at Southern Cross Station.

Luckily for us, our Melbourne airbnb was just across the Southern Cross Station. We quickly checked in and I have to say this Airbnb apartment was way better than the Sydney one.

Off we go to explore Melbourne now! But first, we got ourselves some pies from Pie Face to fill our growling stomachs and warm us up.

Our first stop was... Brighton Beach, so we jumped aboard a train that took us there in about 1 hour. We alighted at Brighton Beach Station, and it is about a 10 - 15 minutes walk to the colourful Brighton Beach Boxes & Beach Houses.

Simply follow these signboards with the 'house' icon & you will get there in no time.

It was a really nice walk to the beach boxes too. The weather was good, sky was blue and it was cooling. It was perfect. Then, we got to the stretch of the beach with tiny unique beach houses lined up against the sunset. We pretty much took a photo at every single box. Just too pretty a sight to not capture a picture for memory sake!

Hungry after all that posing and smiling, we took an 18 minutes walk along the neighbourhood to White Rabbit Brighton for dinner. We ordered 2 Share Plates (available from 4pm onwards) to share amongst the three of us. One thing I noticed was food portions are huge in Australia! We had a Twice baked goat curd soufflé (served with apple and fennel Compote, apple and rocket salad, AU$20.90) & a Zucchini and corn fritters (served with avocado and tomato salsa, crispy onion rings, AU$19).

I like the second dish more, the onion rings were good. I am just not a fan of goat meat...

By the time we are done with dinner, it was already dark outside. We caught a train that took us back to Southern Cross Station and headed straight to Woolworths QV at Melbourne Central to bag back a bunch of Aussie snacks! You won't want to see how 'auntie' we were shopping at the Supermarket. Still, supermarket shopping is always one of the highlights whenever I travel. Food glutton, you know.

We took an Uber back to the Airbnb and called it a day. Coming up... stay tuned for out 1-Day tour to the Great Ocean Road!
