Food Review @ Kabe No Ana
What happens when you feel like eating both western and japanese food at the same time? You go for fusion food at Kabe No Ana!
At the start, I might have doubts about having spaghetti in a Japanese place but they are all gone with just a taste of their signature Mentaiko Carbonara ($14.90)! Of course, Kabe No Ana has other delicious dishes as well such as their Egg Benedicts and Cheese Fondue too.
Yes, you read that right! Cheese Fondue. Kabe No Ana's cheese fondue comes along with sticks of hotdog, slices of toasted bread and some potato wedges.
Although the Cheese Fondue is not as rich and thick as I have expected, it still tasted alright. Surprisingly, the cheese got 'cheesier' as time goes by. Now... look at that cheese!
This is definitely sinful, but let's just say that I will worry about burning off the calories after the meal alright?
Next up, we have their Mentaiko Carbonara. Personally, I am a fan of Carbonara and well, any creamy sort of spaghetti or pasta. Thus, when my friend told me that I have to try Kabe No Ana's Mentaiko Carbonara when we visited, I ordered it without any hesitation. Even if this does not taste as a Japanese Carbonara, it should still taste like a Carbonara, I thought. So why not?
Having just seen the Carbonara served before me, I already had a good feeling about it. What could go wrong with a runny egg yolk, bits of ham and mentaiko? I started with bursting the egg yolk with my fork and then mixing it in with the rest of the spaghetti before swirling a forkful of awesome goodness... and into my mouth it goes! Hmm, yes this is sooo yummy.
Lastly, if you love any sort of eggporn, the Egg Benedict might just be for you! Behold... poached eggs on nicely toasted bread which are then drenched in hollandaise sauce.
This looks extremely instagrammable but sadly, we thought the hollandaise sauce does not really go well with the entire dish. The sauce tasted more salty than it probably should have been. We ended up adding the cheese sauce from the Cheese Fondue onto our toast. Sounds odd, but it tasted great!
If I have to say what I would reorder when I visit Kabe No Arna next time, it would certainly be the Mentaiko Carbonara. Speaking of which, I already had it twice!
