Food Review @ Masizzim

The Korean craze never seems to end! When is the last time you visited a Korean place to satisfy your craving for Korean food? For me, it was a week ago. This time, I have decided to try out Masizzim which is located at 313@Somerset.

Famous for their Korean meat stews and pancakes, my friends and I chose to have a "Get Together" session over at Masizzim while enjoying some Korean cusine. Overall, this proved to be a great decision for me!

For our first dish selection, we went with Soy Pork Stew and a top up of Spicy Kimchi Cheese Rice. With a top up on your order of stew, you could get the rice at a slightly discounted price. Moving on to how the stew tasted, I would give a 5 out of 5! Why, is it really THAT good? You would agree with me when you get to taste the soft pork meat, which fell off the bones easily. Not to mention the stew sauce which is tastefully made, I could just drizzle the sauce overall plain rice and make a meal out of it!

Besides the soy pork stew, you could choose to have your stew with either beef or spicy chicken too. If you are a spice lover, you could have a spicy stew where you get to choose from 4 levels of spiciness. Next, you get to decide if you want Korean style udon or glass noodles (we chose this) and lastly, other optional add-ons such as cheese, noodles or rice.

As for the Spicy Kimchi Cheese Rice, I found it pretty alright since I am a cheese and kimchi lover. On the other hand, my friends felt that there was nothing special about it and the rice got slightly burnt on the bottom of the bowl.

Our second dish was the Squid and Leek Pancake (S$14). This is another MUST ORDER dish, especially if you love crispy pancake! Though I do not really like eating squid or leek, the combination of its crispiness and the sauce which came with it made it delicious for me.

However, if you really dread eating squid or leek, perhaps you could try either the Tomato Cheese Kimchi Pancake (S$13) or the Potato Pancake (S$12). On a side note, if you could not eat beef, take note that the Tomato Cheese Kimchi Pancake is made up of beef-infused batter.

Lastly, we had the Anchovy Masizzim Rice Bowl ($8). Basically, you would be served a bowl of multigrained rice, anchovy and seaweed. With a pair of gloves, we mixed everything together and rolled 5 rice balls. It was a fun mixing and roll process, and a pretty instagrammable worthy moment. It kind of made up for the whole "it's just rice, seaweed and anchovy for $8" experience.

If you prefer tuna over anchovy, you could ask for the Tuna Masizzim Rice Bowl.

All in all, I would certainly go back for their delicious stews and crispy pancakes! :)
