Food Review @ Bonchon Chicken

Korean fried chicken is still the craze in Singapore. With all these restaurants popping up across Singapore, I just have to visit some of them to try these fried chicken out! This time round, it is Bonchon Chicken!

In comparison to other Korean fried chicken restaurant, I have to say that Bonchon Chicken is more accessible than the rest since it is located in a shopping mall. I visited the branch at Bugis Plus for dinner.

So what did we order? In total, we ordered 3 dishes!

First up, we have Kimchi fries with shredded meat. It looks amazing, but perhaps it is an acquired taste? I would much prefer my cheese fries anyday. That being said, you could still go ahead and give it a try!

Next up, we have Okonomiyaki for $13.95. It is basically a savoury pancake with prawn, squid, scallops and cabbage topped with milk mayo, okonomiyaki sauce and katsoubushi. The first slice was delicious for me. It is good to share this with perhaps another 2 - 3 friends so you would not get sicked of it. Anyway, this dish seems like a fusion between Japanese and Korean food. For a moment, I wondered if Bonchon Chicken is a Japan-Korean fusion food restaurant.

Lastly, we ordered a small portion of 6 wings and drumlets for $7.95. You could choose to have them in soy sauce, hot sauce or half-and-half flavours. We went for the soy sauce one since the hot sauce seems pretty spicy.

This is really the BEST dish in the restaurant! Crispy skin and not overly salty. Definitely one of my favourites for Korean Fried Chicken.

If you would like to try out fried chicken from other Korean restaurants, you could visit Twins or Wabar at Tanjong Pagar. So far, they are still the best choices of restaurants/ bars to have great fried chicken together with other delicious sides and with a better ambience!
