Gangnam & Itaewon: Kyochon, Shopping, Sigolbapsang

It is Monday today! To start off the week, here is a post sharing about my trip to Gangnam and Itaewon.

Korean fried chicken has been the recent craze in Singapore. Even though several korean fried chicken restaurants have opened in Singapore, these fried chicken could still not compete with those authentic ones in Korea! At least for me!

That is why while we were in Seoul, we had to visit Kyochon Chicken for some fried chicken. On one of our free days, we headed down to Gangnam for our brunch at Kyochon. To get there, leave Gangnam station via Exit 9 and then turn to your right. After passing by 2 intersections, stop at the 3rd intersection and the shop will be on your left side.

On our way there, we spotted a building with the words 'SBS'. I wonder if it is the Seoul Broadcasting System building?

Anyway back to topic regarding my brunch, we arrived too early so we ended up walking around the area till the restaurant opens. Since we were early, we were one of the first in the restaurant.

We ordered the Honey series mixed wings and chicken parts (24 pcs) for 15,000won. I would have to say, this is simply the BEST fried chicken wings I have ever eaten. The outer crust is crispy and layered with honey. Once you start eating, it would be hard to stop until you are full!

After having a fulfilling meal, we visited Gangnam Underground Shopping Centre to shop for clothes. This is one of my favourite shopping places with really affordable clothes! If you have been to Bugis street in Singapore, this place is almost like another Bugis street offering a wider variety of clothes!

So how do you get there? Simply take Line 3 (subway) to Express Bus Terminal Station and walk towards Exit 8. However, you could start shopping once you pass the gentries! Make sure you bring enough cash with you so you really could 'shop till you drop'!

After much shopping, we were hungry again. Thus, time for early dinner! For this meal, we decided to go for traditional Korean cuisine at Itaewon. Leave via Exit 2 and keep a look out for the street signs. Just by keeping to the Itaewon-ro street, you should be able to arrive at Itaewon-ro 45-gil in about 5 to 10 minutes.

Once you see this street sign, you simply have to cross the road to GS25. SigolBasang is right next to GS25. Here is the address in case you need it: 738-17 Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea서울 용산구 한남동 738-17

Not only is the food here unique, the interior design is special too.

We ordered the 21 Classic Banchans set for 8,000Won/ person. We added on a bowl of rice and soup each at an additional cost.

These 30 classic banchans consist of a large variety of different small dishes such as beans, vegetables, tofu and so on. Some tasted nice, while some tasted a little odd. However, the bowl of soup is pretty appetising and made up for those odd dishes.

All in all, do pay a visit here if you have some time to experience an authentic korean meal! :)
