Busan: Exploring (Day II)

Fortunately, the weather was much better on our second day in Busan. It is TIME to explore and eat! Before we set off to our first stop of the day, we got to replenish our energy. One good thing about the hostel which we were staying at: Breakfast was provided!

On top of waflles, you could get cereals, milk, fruits and other miscellaneous food at the counter.

After our breakfast, we head off to our first destination - Yonggungsa Temple. To get there, we took the subway to Haeundae station and left via Exit 7. Following that, we took Bus 181 at the bus stop outside Exit 7 and alighted at Yonggungsa Temple. We did not know exactly which bus stop to alight at, but simply follow the crowd. And yes, most people alighted at the same stop. The other way is to get down when you see this place:

You do not need to cross the road. Instead, walk up the slope from where you alighted. After a 5 to 8 minutes walk, you will arrive at the entrance of the temple. Beware though, there are many stairs around so you will have to walk all the way down those stairs. When you arrived before a sea, you are probably nearer to the temple now.

The water from the sea is so blue and it is sparkling! I could probably spend my whole day there if not for the hot weather. Then we walked up some stairs to the temple itself. The architecture of the building itself is beautiful and delicate.

If you climbed further up another steep flight of stairs, you will arrive at the highest point of the temple with a better view of the surroundings.

Another thing which you can do at the temple...

I am not sure what this means but I have a feeling that washing your hands with this water might be a sign of blessing or maybe you have to clea your hands before entering the temple itself. Not exactly sure since we could not ask the Korean people around us due to our language barrier. So... "Monkey see, monkey do."

After spending our morning there, we took the same bus back to Haeundae station (from the opposite bus stop). Exiting from Exit 5, we went towards Haeundae Beach. I took a few photographs there but generally, I found it lacking and the weather was far too hot for me. In the end, we went to the nearby stalls to look for some lunch.

Guess what? We ordered Kimchi dumplings! And they were YUMMY :D With some stomach space left, we went to Cafe Bene for a Matcha Bingsu. I am sorry to say this but you should probably give it a miss despite how delicious it looks. The ice was too coarse and basically, it fell way below our expectations.

Since there was nothing much at Haeundae beach, we travelled to Gwangan station via Line 2 for Gwanggali Beach. This beach is way better and if you can, do stay for the bridge light show at night. It comes on at several timings at night. One of which was at 10pm.

Because we were falling behind our schedule due to the horrible weather yesterday, we rushed off to Nampodong Station to visit the market there. Please do go there to check out the food and shopping available on the streets! You would not regret it.

The hotteok at Seoul and Busan are different, so you got to try the one at Busan too! There are nuts in the Busan's hotteok while the one is Seoul is generally just chewy and sweet.

With that, we ended Day 2 in Busan! I will be updating with our Day 3 soon;) Stay tuned.
